Trip Description

Ice fishing Lake Winnipesaukee offers an abundance of opportunity during the wintertime in the lakes region. Trips typically run from the second weekend in January through the end of March. For your trip, you are provided with all the necessary gear and equipment, included transportation out onto the ice, a shelter with heat, rods, reels, tip ups, an ice auger, sonars, etc.

We are targeting the best fish to catch through the ice, and that is the lake trout and rainbow trout. Early ice has the fastest action available for cold-water species like lake trout and rainbow trout, but remains steady all season long. If you have the chance to get out on the lakes before fishing pressure picks up, it's usually fast action and a great bite. The rainbow trout fishing remains great all season long, and catching rainbows on tip ups in shallow water provides a thrill unlike any other through the ice. Lake trout fishing usually starts off with a lot of action early on in the season and are a blast to catch jigging. Once the whole lake freezes over, we go target lakers offshore with the opportunity to get a big one. Fishing is usually steady but good.

We also target warm water species like pickerel, perch, and bass. Come late ice when things start to warm up, the action for these fish pick up and the possibility for a bigger fish does as well. Targeting pickerel is most effective using tip ups, whereas jigging for perch proves to be more effective. The winter is a great time to get out and go fishing, and provides an experience unlike any other! Overall, ice fishing happens to be my favorite type of fishing!

We specialize in Run & Gun lake trout trips, where we hop from spot to spot chasing specifically lake trout with lures and jigs. These are the most intense trips as we do not usually set up shelter because we are moving so frequently, but these are often the most rewarding trips for anglers looking to get in on the lake trout action Winni provides.
